Monday 5th January 2010

This is where we stayed overlooking the lake, Nahuel Huapi. Today we drove up to the base of Cerro Catedral, where there is a cable car almost to the top of the mountain.
It is a ski resort and wasn't fully open as, obviously, it is summer here.

We caught the cable car up....

Then it was a change to a chair lift. It was quite windy too!

At the top there were remnants of last winter's snow and great views of the lake.

We had a short stroll on the path which was still snowy.

The tops of the mountains were like spires. Hence the name Cerro Catedral?

On the way back down.

On the mountain and in the resort there were hordes of youths all in orange and black tracksuits who were travelling with a company called Travelrock.

Before going back to our cabana, we did the Circuito Chico of Llao Llao. This was a view from a mirador.

Back at base camp, Joan made cheese empanadas - a South American snack that involves deep fried pastry and cheese.

Kevin ate them.
