Sunday 13th December

Kevin in Aeropuerto Jorge Newbery, BA

Currently sitting in our apartment in Bariloche. It's 10 at night and the light is fading fast. The hotel is on a hill, just above the lake and snowy mountains act as a backdrop.

We finally arrived here after 36 hours of traveling. The flight to Sao Paolo seemed interminable as we arrived at Heathrow very early and had to wait six hours until take-off. We blame the cats. Neither of us slept on the long flight. Arrived in Brasil as day was breaking, and quickly swapped to a flight to Buenos Aires. Fairly uneventful until we realised that our baggage had not arrived with us. We queued up in a chaotic line for over an hour to register the loss. the attendant was suggesting to everyone that our luggage might be arriving at a different terminal. Luckily we had a long wait between flights and had time to change to another terminal. Utterly relieved to retrieve our cases.

Drove across BA to a different airport in a taxi with a driver with a bad limp, a kamikaze attitude to peage barriers and a cracked windscreen. Caught the plane to Bariloche - a 737/200. Aerolineas Argentina are retiring these planes in 2 days time.

Took some photos out the window of the changing landscape.

We were met at the airport and taken to the Torres Blancas which is way out of town. The scenery is gorgeous and reminds us of Switzerland. Writing this at 2 am UK time.
